Developing responsible Roman Catholic Christian leadership qualities is an important focus at St. James School. Student Council, along with their moderator, plans activities and service projects throughout the school year. Members meet once a week after school.
The council consists of four officers and many commissioners. At the end of their 5th, 6th, and 7th grade years, students who meet the work habit and behavior requirements may run for a position on the council for the following year.
Some examples of commissioner positions are as follows:
Safety and Ecology
Sergeant at Arms
There is often more than one commissioner in the above categories so the students learn to work as smaller teams that are part of a large team.
