We have received the following statement from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles:
The St. James Catholic School and Church community, joined with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, regret to announce the passing of kindergartner Samuel Gaza, the fourth and youngest victim of the tragedy following the student Christmas concert Wednesday night at St. James Catholic Church in Redondo Beach.
Little Samuel entered eternal life at age six late Thursday, December 18, 2014, at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Friends from the St. James community knew him as a funny, friendly little boy who liked football. He sang in the school Christmas concert Wednesday night.
His mother, Martha Gaza, 36, also died in the crash outside St. James Wednesday night. Mary Wilson, 81, and Saeko Matsumura, 87, also were killed in the crash after watching their grandchildren perform in the Christmas concert.
Funeral services are still pending.
St. James Catholic Church has set up the "St. James Redondo Beach Victims Fund" to help with funeral and other unexpected costs associated with the tragedy such as medical bills. People interested in helping the families can do so at the following link: http://archla.org/sjvf
